Dr. Kari Obermeyer

Meet the friendly staff at Goldsboro Veterinary Hospital!

Kari Obermeyer,
DVM - Owner

Dr. Kari Obermeyer is a General Practitioner who has been the owner of Goldsboro Veterinary Hospital since April of 2010.

When asked what influenced her to become a veterinarian, Dr. Obermeyer says, 'I have always loved animals since I was young and I have been lucky enough to turn my passion into a career. Now that I am a veterinarian I love being an advocate for animals since they are unable to speak for themselves. I am happy that I can provide high quality, progressive medical care for the pets we see.'

Originally from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Dr. Obermeyer attended the University of Guelph for her undergraduate studies and majored in Biomedical Sciences. After two years, she was accepted at the Ontario Veterinary College where she graduated with honors after earning her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After graduation, she completed a one-year internship in emergency medicine and then spent the next five years working as an emergency practitioner.

Dr. Obermeyer is a member of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.

At home, she has a Jack Russell terrier named Binky, a Lab mix named Star, a beagle mix named Elsa, and five cats: Harry, Ozwald, Seven, Phantom, and Pepper. All of her pets are rescues either from work or a shelter. Dr. Obermeyer's interests include triathlons (she competed in the Lake Placid Iron Man in July of 2011), reading, hiking, horseback riding, and running, which includes marathons and half marathons.
